The Garage
A garage that looks organized on the outside can still be completely broken. Doors that won't open when the cars are in. Things stacked on the floor because there's nowhere to put them. A system that made sense once but stopped working when life changed.
Most garage problems aren't really about the stuff. They're about a setup that was never designed around how the space actually gets used.
WHAT WE LOOK AT
Before anything gets moved, we look at where the breakdown actually lives; where things become inaccessible, where the daily frustration is, and whether the existing system isn't working or whether there's no system at all. The goal is the same either way: build something that holds up to how the family actually uses the space, every day, not just on the day it was set up.
WHY ELFA
We build garage systems with Elfa because they're designed to last and built to change. As kids get older, sports shift, hobbies evolve, and families grow, the system can be reconfigured, expanded, or adjusted without starting over. It's not a one-time fix; it's infrastructure that grows with the household.
PROJECT ONE: LITTLE SILVER
The Problem
The cabinets in this garage looked tidy. From the outside, the space seemed organized. But when the cars were parked inside, the cabinet doors couldn't actually open; which meant most of the storage was inaccessible during the exact hours it needed to be used. The system looked functional. It just wasn't.
The Solution
The cabinets came out entirely. Walls were repainted and rebuilt with a custom Elfa system designed around everything the family actually needed to store: bikes, kayaks, sports equipment, life vests, tools, garden supplies, and seasonal items like patio cushions and furniture covers that needed a designated home in the off-season. Everything went up and off the floor, with room for 2-3 cars to park at all times. The wall space that was previously taken up by inefficient cabinets became the most functional part of the garage.
PROJECT TWO: ATLANTIC HIGHLANDS
The Problem
There was no system. Surf equipment, tools, kids' bikes and toys, strollers, a Bronco hard top that needed somewhere to live in the warmer months; all of it was piled on the floor or stacked against walls. Nothing was easy to find, get to, or put away. There was plenty of space in the garage - it had the capacity to hold a lot- but as it was, it just didn't work.
The Solution
This project started before we set foot in the garage. We coordinated a storage pod so the space could be fully cleared while new epoxy floors were laid and walls were painted. From there, a custom Elfa system was designed and installed to hold everything the family stores year-round, with room built in for seasonal items that shift in and out. Every item got a place up and off the floor, with a dedicated workspace and enough wall coverage to handle it all while still parking both of the family's cars. When we moved everything back in, nothing went back to the floor.
